New LXD image server available (images.lxd.canonical.com)

Notice: Deprecation of certain images on images: remote

Based on our usage metrics, we will be deprecating certain images that are no longer actively used. These images will soon become unavailable on the images: remote. The full list of affected images is as follows:

  • ALT p10 (all architectures)
  • openEuler 22.03 (all architectures)
  • openEuler 24.03 (arm64 only)
  • Oracle 8 (arm64 only)
  • Devuano (arm64 only)
  • Gentoo (arm64 only)
  • Funtoo (arm64 only)

The images: (non-Ubuntu Linux images) server has been down for some time, no?

  • On my server :

lxc launch images:alpine/3.20 test2

Yes there is an issue we are working on now to resolve. Apologies for this.

images: is now back online (only reachable via IPv4 for now though).

My colleagues and I are wondering why the debian images don’t use the standard /etc/network/interfaces but systemd instead for their network config. Why was this changed from the standard debian iso/install ?
