This week we made progress on a number of fronts.
-
I fixed a window resize issue that’s been around for as long as I can remember. Resizing GTK windows no longer causes the bottom and right edges to flicker.
-
@alan_g landed initial support for bespoke Wayland protocols. This allows shell developers to support shell-specific extensions that don’t live in Mir.
-
mate-wayland
is now live on the snap store! To install it, just runsudo snap install --edge --classic mate-wayland
. Be warned: this is a prototype and there are a lot of rough edges. The most obvious of which is if mate-panel is not already installed, the panel fails to find configuration files it needs and crashes. I’ll make another announcement when enough progress has been made to have a presentable demo.
