Microsoft Edge opens to all wokspaces

When I start Microsoft Edge it opens on all workspaces. It shows at the same point on the screen on every workspace. Switching workspace brings it to the top on all workspaces. Other applications open to the current workspace and can be dragged to another as wanted.

Can the window placement be controlled using a ubuntu setting or is it a problem with edge or some other software?

I have microsoft-edge-stable version 131.0.2903.99-1 installed from https://packages.microsoft.com on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS Linux 6.8.0-50-generic with GNOME version 46 using Wayland.

I found that opening edge via the microsoft365 linux applet cleared the problem. I assume this indicates there is a setting reset by the applet but I do not know where it is.
