@bofigueiredo I have moved your post to its own topic.

Please provide context to the problem.

At a minimum we need to know the following:

  • Ubuntu version
  • Computer specifications, especially graphic cards
  • Was this a fresh install or an upgrade?
  • Did the problem occur after a recent update?
  • Any other error messages or issues to report?

I have included the post from @halogen2 to provide additional context.

Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse

Hi @rubi1200,

I’m relatively new to the Linux environment — I’ve only been using it for a few months and I’m still learning.
If you need any additional information, please let me know and I’ll do my best to retrieve it.

  • Any other error messages or issues to report?
After upgrading to linux-image-6.14.0-27-generic, my secondary monitor stopped displaying video (no signal), and my network interface shows as UNCLAIMED when running lshw -C network

Thanks for clarifying what specifically the issues are.

To help troubleshoot the graphics issue:

  • Is your computer a desktop, or is it a laptop?
  • What kind of graphics hardware do you have?
  • Your terminal output above indicates you have NVIDIA graphics. Do you have hybrid graphics (integrated graphics in your CPU + a discrete NVIDIA GPU), or only the one discrete NVIDIA GPU, or some other multi-GPU configuration?
  • How/where is your primary monitor physically connected to your computer? How/where is your non-working secondary monitor connected to your computer?

For the networking issue, see this thread for how to start troubleshooting:

To help troubleshoot both issues: Could you please also post the entries from /var/log/apt/history.log for the problematic update and anything done afterwards? (If that file doesn’t go back far enough to contain the entry for the problematic update, try running zcat /var/log/apt/history.log.1.gz in Terminal to see the previous log.)

[Resolved] The problem appears to be resolved, although I’m not certain which specific step led to the fix.

In an attempt to identify and resolve the issue, I performed the following steps:

  1. First, I rebooted the system to check if it was just a temporary initialization issue, but the problem persisted.
  2. Then I accessed the GRUB advanced options and booted using the previous kernel. After doing so, everything worked normally again.
  3. I proceeded to run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade once more. Upon rebooting and loading the latest kernel (6.14.0-27-generic), the system started normally and everything functioned as expected.

Q: Is your computer a desktop, or is it a laptop?
A: My system is a desktop PC.

Q: What kind of graphics hardware do you have?
A: I have a single discrete GPU, an NVIDIA RTX 3060.

Q: Your terminal output above indicates you have NVIDIA graphics. Do you have hybrid graphics (integrated graphics in your CPU + a discrete NVIDIA GPU), or only the one discrete NVIDIA GPU, or some other multi-GPU configuration?
A: I only have the one discrete NVIDIA GPU — there is no hybrid or multi-GPU setup.

Q: How/where is your primary monitor physically connected to your computer? How/where is your non-working secondary monitor connected to your computer?
A: My primary monitor is connected to the GPU via DisplayPort.
My secondary monitor, which initially wasn’t working, is connected to the same GPU via HDMI.

Note the reports of the second monitor/GPU not showing for 5070TI GPUs when the 570+ driver packages are not the “open” version. This might affect other GPUs also.
