Not sure if this issue has been noticed elsewhere, so apologize if I’m reporting unnecessarily.
But, if I’m trying to use ddrescue by itself to perform a large file copy, I get io errors.
However, this issue goes away if I pipe the log output to pv, as follows:
ddrescue src_file dst_file | pv
Perhaps there is a sync issue somewhere with copy operations and pipes?
I have seen this issue with 18.04, 20.04 and 20.10, so the issue seems to exist for these three editions of Ubuntu.
Also, I do not get this issue when I am copying large files using MacOS or Windows 10. Just Ubuntu. Thanks.
