I just got a new computer. A Minisforum AtomMan G7Pt. I am currently running Kubuntu 25.04 on it. I have also ran Manjaro, and Kubuntu 24.10. Runs like a top BTW.
However, I have a mechanical Keyboard. A Cougar CoreEX (USB Keyboard). Which has backlit keys.
I have looked EXTENSIVELY through my BIOS to see if it is a USB Power related issue, and can find nothing that keeps USB Power on, or tells it to turn off.
When I do a shutdown (on any Linux Environment / Live or Installed), the keyboard stays lit up. It does not do this with Windows. Any idea on how to get this to shut-off automatically?
On Windows your keyboard’s backlight is probably turned off on shutting down using its native drivers. But I guess that your keyboard stays powered via USB.
So you may try to look again in your bios for options like “Wake on USB”, “Resume by USB Device” or similar (“USB PowerShare,” “Always on USB,” or “USB Power Delivery”) which may also keep your USB devises powered up.
Perhaps you can share info on your bios - I searched the internet (also Minisforum - the manual is only on chassis, nothing more …) but didn’t find any clue.

It’s not in the BIOS. I have been through every menu it has multiple times… There is nothing that allows any form of control over USB. This system has a very limited BIOS. It’s all point and click.
I created a shell script to turn my keyboard off and - after some seconds - on again. If I press a key while it is off it turns on not waiting for the script. If this script works with your keyboard maybe there is a way to execute such a script on shutdown.
If you want to test this please post the output of lsusb
and lsusb -t -v
so I can check details of the script.

Some USB ports allow power throughput even when the PC is powered off.
For example, to charge Bluetooth headphones or a Smartphone.
Have you tried the other USB ports for your keyboard?

Yes. They all do the same thing.
