I have ubuntu 22.02.5 LTS installed on a desk top. I would like to install ubuntu on a chromebook if that is possible. I searched the forum for info on this and all I found was a post saying the official tutorial is outdated. Can you point me to instructions on how to do this.
You certainly can install a Linux operating system on a chromebook. However, many of the older chromebooks are under powered and will not support the addition of RAM. So if you have a chromebook that falls into that category it is best to consider one of the lighter flavors of Ubuntu (Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Budgie, or Mate). https://docs.mrchromebox.tech/docs/getting-started.html explains what you have to do to boot to developer mode for whichever chromebook that you possess and then delivers a step by step tutorial on how to prepare it for installation. It also contains a tutorial on how to set up a dual boot with the existing Chrome OS that is already installed but I have no idea why anyone would want to do that.
