Install Failure with BalenaEtcher

I’ve been working on this 3 times in the last week, After I show BE the ubuntu file in downloads, I can go no further with getting ubuntu on USB. I have actually reinstalled Win10 three times, shut off Bitlocker, each time downloading ubuntu and BE. But keep getting the same error. After I show BE where the ubuntu download is and try to to continue in BE, the Curser turns into a red circle with a line through it. (I’ve had ubuntu on this laptop for a few years and installed Mint and ubuntu with no problems)

This link gives some BE alternatives: https://alternativeto.net/software/etcher/
The comment on “Rufus VS balenaEtcher” is interesting.

Personally I really like Ventoy. Once installed on a USB, you can copy multiple ISO images to it, and when you boot from the stick, it gives a menu to choose which ISO you want to boot. I’ve got 9 .ISO images on my stick at the moment. Brilliant!

I have experienced good results using mkusb over the last several years. It is in the repository and can be downloaded using synaptic.

The saga continues! I eventually installed 100% Mint. Ubuntu was hopeless. But I still have the original problem. While running , the system locks up! I got a hard lock up after first update, the system let me know about an issue and allowed me to revert back to before update. Now, after the lock up, it will work again after a reboot. Mint ran well for two years before the lockup problem. I’m thinking about doing a reinstall and never update. Thanks for the USB suggestion though!
