Importing Azure Ubuntu Pro Pay-As-You-Go entitlements to Ubuntu Pro account

Hello,

I am trying to find documentation on importing my Ubuntu Pro entitlements for a few Pay-As-You-Go VMs for Ubuntu Pro in Azure. I do see that applying the entitlement FROM Ubuntu Pro into Azure is possible, but is there a way to apply the auto-generated Pro entitlements from Azure into my Ubuntu Pro account portal? TIA!

Hello,

That’s an interesting idea. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to import Azure PAYG entitlements into your Canonical Pro portal.

The PAYG license is managed entirely by Azure, while the Pro portal only tracks subscriptions from Canonical—they are separate systems.

Out of curiosity, what is the main goal you are trying to achieve? Are you looking for a single dashboard to have visibility of all your Pro machines in one place?

Thanks for responding! Honestly, I hate using Azure tooling because they nickel and dime for every log aggregation, and I’d rather use the Ubuntu Pro dashboard to manage the overview of my Ubuntu deployment. I have a team and if they ever need to open a case with Ubuntu for support, they would have to either follow a spreadsheet of all of our entitlements, or log into the problematic Ubuntu instance and pull the info manually. We all love static spreadsheets for inventory tracking right? Also tried adding my Ubuntu instances to Landscape, and something is bugging up the process for that too in Azure. After a few hours of research yesterday, I think the only true Ubuntu Pro entitlement that comes with the Azure VMs are for updates and live patches. It’s just a little mirky finding the true details of what’s included with the Azure Ubuntu Pro offering. I’m sure I can build a Grafana dashboard for this info, but I’d love to just be able to use Canonicals native tooling. Just a faster way to open a case too, with the centralized Ubuntu dashboard.
