Hello, exploring this new Discourse terrain…
When I take screenshots, they show up in ‘Recent’ files. Cannot rename them neither before nor after saved. Why ? How to ? Explain as for a beginner, please.
What program are you using to take screenshots?
You didn’t specify which desktop environment you’re using, but typically “Recent” is not a normal folder, it’s a list of pointers to files. Try going to the actual folder the screenshots are actually located in and renaming them from there?
If you don’t know where the screenshots are being saved, it’s likely inside the “Pictures” sub-folder of your home folder.

This is the clue ^^^
Using Ubuntu 24.04 with Gnome 46
Navigate to Recent > Right click on a file > Open Item Location
You can rename files (Right click) when you access them in their stored location
