Is the bug with the gnome extension ding@rastersoft.com causing memory leak and taking focus from the foreground a known reported bug? And if not, how do I report it?
Ubuntu Version:
24.04.3 LTS
Desktop Environment : GNOME
Problem Description:
After installing Ubuntu for the first time I found that gjs would take focus from the foreground, and I wasn’t able to interact with anything until I alt tab to another window. Then it would appear to be ok for a while, except that I was unable to close gjs. But after some time I would experience a crash due to a memory leak. After some investigation and help from posts on ask Ubuntu, I managed to isolate the issue to ding@rastersoft.com. Ruining gnome-extensions disable ding@rastersoft.com fixed my problems, as it had for many people on ask Ubuntu. I did find posts about this going back to 2024. So I’m wondering if this is something that has been appropriately bug reported. And if it hasn’t, how would I go about reporting this, and whom would I report it to. I think I can recreated the issue easy enough. But I’m new to Ubuntu so I’m not sure how this process works, and how things are distributed between Ubuntu and other parties like GNOME.
Relevant System Information:
Dell Vostro 14 5410
Intel 11th Gen i7-11390H
8 GiB RAM
What I’ve Tried:
I was able to find many posts about this on ask Ubuntu. I wasn’t able to find posts about it on Launchpad. But I might just not have searched properly on this platform.
Ruining gnome-extensions disable ding@rastersoft.com resolves the issue.
