After upgrade , reboot, unable to login to 20.04. Upgraded on encrypted volume from 18.04. Enter encryption key ok, enter user password ok, but upon desktop black screen. Tried login using console/terminal, admin password too long, not accepting, only login is available to standard user, which has shorter password, so I do not have the user level to probably resolve “dependency problems” with apt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What I’ve Tried:
Tried using LiveCD but can’t mount/access encrypted volume even with proper key
canonical is making some tool, maybe there is something insight from your setup, but lts upgrades are not so trivial anyway and if there is some raid, problem additions grows and depends also on some policies how to handle complications like this or if there is some backup or time will be mercy…
I was wondering if anyone knows the specific packages that I may load into my LiveCD that would enable me to mount my encrypted volume.
Thanks in advance.
In case anyone has this issue use the Ubuntu recovery environment.
From on screen menu select:
Choose network
Open root shell
Use apt to load luks2
Follow prompts
At this point you should access thru the terminal
Cheers.
