Hi,
I recently suffered crashes within Gimp (2.10.36-3ubuntu0.24.04.1) in Noble. Each time I copy very narrow bands to the clipboard while the Patterns dockable is visible, Gimp dies hard.
You can see it happening at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmQaKPVCOHw for example.
I investigated it and figured out that this is known and fixed upstream (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/10372, fixed in Gimp 2.10.38), and I submitted a Launchpad bug report with a debdiff attached so that the patch can be backported for users of 24.04.
The Launchpad bugreport is at Bug #2100703 “Gimp crashes copying a 40x1 zone” : Bugs : gimp package : Ubuntu
The maintainers did not manage to reproduce (I don’t know how) so the report is lingering at “Incomplete”.
I’d love if some of you folks could try and reproduce that crash and update the bugreport accordingly so this get officially fixed.
It is quite easy: open an image in Gimp in Ubuntu 24.04. Show the Patterns dockable via the “Windows / Dockable Dialogs / Patterns” menu item. Select a very horizontal (or vertical) band of pixels like 40x1.
Thanks!
