Hello from England

I love a good template.

Who
My IRL name is Bobby Moss. You can find out more about my past exploits on my profile page.

Where
The rural South West of England. It’s a green and pleasant land filled with cider and cheese.

When
I first tried Breezy Badger (5.10) as a live environment from a technology magazine cover disc, Feisty Fawn (7.04) as my first dual-boot, and Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) as my first solo-boot. I’ve spent the better part of two decades using LTS versions of Ubuntu on my home laptop, with only occasional dalliances with other distros like Fedora, Debian, and Arch.

What
I’m mostly here to learn more about this community, and to perhaps contribute in future. I also have an in-flight job application for a technical authoring position, so it’s fair to say that wikis, tutorials, and published documentation would be areas of interest for me.

Teen-aged Bob had an account on the old Ubuntu forums in the '00s. So this is feeling like a nostalgic experience for me. I think I might have participated on the Snap forums five years ago when one of my old open source projects was distributed in that format.

How can we help you get started?
Just be your normal welcoming selves! Hopefully as I see areas where I can pitch in as a volunteer we can get to know each other better. :+1:

I think I’ll also break out my old IRC account on Libera.chat as well to check out the Ubuntu-related chatter over there too.

Hello and welcome to Ubuntu discourse and I was on the old forum for 17 years then came here.

While IRC is still up and running most of the community is now using matrix to communicate in real time.
