Hi all,
I have an LSI 9750 card with battery backup which has been performing flawlessly in an old machine. I use the machine as a bit bucket and it holds media and data. Presently it is 6 x 4TB drives in RAID5 which were (originally) formatted as EXT3 with fewer drives, so the full 20TB+/- isn’t available.
I’m replacing the drives with 4x20TB for 60TB+/- useable (again RAID5).
How should I set up / format the underlying filesystem since we’re now in 2025 and not 2012?
The LSI card should support the drives; if not I’ll probably buy a U-Green; I have enough money and I’m too old to spend weeks upgrading this box .
The machine doesn’t boot from the LSI card; I have an SSD for OS and applications.
Thanks for the help and thoughts.
Andrew
