I installed gnome-software for flatpak plugin and recently I’ve noticed it shows me updates even for system on Ubuntu 20.10

This is a core feature of the GNOME Software app. Ubuntu also has a separate Update app, but the update functionality in Snap Software also kicks into gear sometimes.
For me it’s a bug, that I don’t experience since I uninstalled Software or Snap Store. User should have ONE graphical software to show updates.
gnome-software
is a universe package nowadays, and not installed by default in Ubuntu 20.10. So its ability to prompt about available updates does not replace anything. It’s just a feature provided by the upstream version which you get on the bargain if you install gnome-software
