Ubuntu 24.04 new install
Gnome, X-11, dash-to-panel plugin
I’m trying to upgrade Franz from 5.10 to 5.11 due to browser not supported error when adding MS Team, downloaded the new version from here, but when tried to install using GDebi installer, it did not give any error, but doesn’t work, anyone installed new version of Franz or solved the browser problem with 5.10?
What is the output of:
wget https://github.com/meetfranz/franz/releases/download/v5.11.0/franz_5.11.0_amd64.deb
sudo apt install ./franz_5.11.0_amd64.deb
Does it install OK?
@Actionparsnip I uninstalled the old one and used your instructions to install the new one, and got this warning “franz is already the newest version (5.11.0)”, and when I tried to run from terminal, got this error “[17680:0411/132503.588603:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(163)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I’m aborting now. You need to make sure that /opt/Franz/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.

OK, make a note of the current mode and owner and set it to whatever is correct. You may need to contact the Franz guys directly to find out (or maybe someone else can advise). It’s not something I use but the terminal output is very useful

@Actionparsnip thanks, unfortunately there’s no support for Franz (no email, no contact form, etc), Franz community link is broken, it seems this project will be abandoned soon. Will keep trying though.
@michaelbr From what I can tell Franz became Ferdi which then became Ferdium. It is a hard fork and actively maintained.
