It should be okay to use the app. Bear in mind that the old ‘Ubuntu Software’ handles firmware updates already. But if you switch to the new ‘App Center’ then you will need to also install the firmware updater app to manage your firmware. This improves performance as previously Ubuntu Software would need to run permanently in the background to check for new firmware updates.
