Firefox 136.0.1 Snap for Ubuntu - no add-ons

MacBookAir 7,1 2014 model
Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
Firefox 136.0.1 Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002 - 1.0

Hi,

I noticed few days ago that all the add-ons are not working in my Firefox. They did work before, like 4-5 days ago. If I remember right I got Firefox update from Snap some days ago. I still have all the add-ons active, but add-on icon from toolbar is gone and I cannot choose to open add-ons from anywhere.

I check web and there is a notice that 14.3.2025 all the add-ons will stop working if not upgraded to newest Firefox. Some certificate has expired.

But, my Firefox is snap and I have updated my snap to newest version. So, is this issue common and is Canonical fixing this issue right now. Should I just wait few days or is this issue just in my computer?

Any news or help appreciated!

Thank you!

A post was split to a new topic: Firefox 113 - “One or more installed add-ons cannot be verified and have been disabled”

Since this topic is clearly about FF136, is seems unclear how a change to FF128 (and older) might be relevant?

the original poster literally asked about this - why canonical snap package is affected by certificate expiration…

While I dont know about the exact problem at hand, note that you can always do a sudo snap revert firefox to go back to the former version on disk as a workaround in case a snap update breaks (the snap system will only upgrade you to a new version if an actual new version comes out next, never to the one you rolled back from)

Thanks!

I reverted back to previous version, but the problem is still there. Is it possible to uninstall firefox snap and then install it from zero?

Sure:

sudo snap remove --purge firefox
sudo snap install firefox

Will the --purge option not delete all the user data?

Wasn’t that what was asked for ? (At least that was what I read into “from zero”)

Dunno. I just always give a warning with purge, because it’s somewhat unexpected.

Thanks!

If purge is not recommended then what other options I could have? Reverting back to previous version did not solve the issue.

snap remove without purge will take a snapshot of all user data and put it back in place when you install again …
