Expressvpn install using CLI

Problem Description:
Have downloaded latest version of Expressvpn (expressvpn-linux-universal-5.0.1.11498.run)
and executed the commands below in terminal:

chmod +x expressvpn-linux-universal-5.0.1.11498.run
./expressvpn-linux-universal-5.0.1.11498.run
Verifying archive integrity… 100% MD5 checksums are OK. All good.
Uncompressing ExpressVPN 100%
Installing for x86_64…

After entering my password, it proceeds to install using the GUI.
I need to be able to install and control Expressvpn from CLI. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Is the ovpn files for openvpn which you can use in CLI?
