"Hey everyone!
I’m Yasir Maken, a CS grad who recently applied for a Desktop Support role at Canonical. I got an email suggesting I join this community, originally from Sudan but currently in the Middle East. It’s a pleasure to meet you all!
Honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t know about this awesome place sooner. It’s incredibly inspiring to see the discussions and the amazing people here. At first, I was a bit intimidated, but now I feel right at home.
I’m eager to learn from all of you and hopefully contribute to the community in some way:
- Learn more about the Ubuntu project and this community.
- Help with QA testing, documentation, or anything else where I can lend a hand!
- Share my love for Ubuntu with others.
A little about me: I first encountered Linux and open source during college, but it was mostly theoretical. My first hands-on experience was with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS during my graduation project, and I was hooked! The stability of Ubuntu really impressed me, and now it’s my main OS (currently running 22.04 LTS).
You can call me Yasir, and I’d appreciate any advice on how to get started. Looking forward to growing and contributing together!
I’m excited to be part of this community! "
Cheers!
P.S. I want to be upfront and apologize if it’s obvious—I used generative AI to help me organize my words better. It’s like having a helpful buddy to make sure I express myself clearly (and sprinkle in some fun emojis too ). I hope that’s okay!
