Ethernet ports not working, Intel 226-V Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS

Dear all,

My ethernet ports are not functioning, I’ve tried various ubuntu-driver update command lines and also updating with a .tar.gz file from Intel. No luck whatsoever.
I’d love to get some support in this matter, I am out of options to try out.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for using the script.

According to your script output, your kernel version is 5.4.0-204-generic

Looks like support for that hardware was added later, in kernel 5.10

One easy, safe way to test if a newer kernel solves the problem is by using a LiveUSB.

  • Download and create an Ubuntu 24.04.1 LiveUSB.
  • Boot from the LiveUSB. Enter the ‘Try Ubuntu’ environment.
  • Test your hardware using that environment, which uses kernel version 6.8

WARNING: Community Support for Ubuntu 20.04 will end soon (April 2025).

Hello Ian,

The system I am trying to set up (which worked by the way in the past), is for running a fluxnode. I am only able to use Ubuntu 20.04 for this. So upgrading to a newer version is not an option.
Can you think of other fixes?

thanks for the help, I got it working by updating to the newest kernel by using the mainline app.
