Disabling touchscreen multitouch gestures in Ubuntu 25.04

Ubuntu Version:

25.04

Desktop Environment (if applicable):

GNOME

Problem Description:
I’m using Ubuntu in a Surface Pro 6 tablet mainly for music applications. Everything works great, including touchscreen multitouch. However, when I want to play a chord I use three fingers or more, and that activates Ubuntu / GNOME multifinger gestures, making it impossible to play a chord. Bummer.

Relevant System Information:

Ubuntu 25.04
GNOME 48
Wayland
Linux 6.15.1-surface-2
Intel processor and graphics

Screenshots or Error Messages:

What I’ve Tried:

I’ve searched online and there are a bunch of Q&A pages and GNOME extensions to disable 3-4 finger gestures or all gestures altogether. However, everything I have found seems to be obsolete/incompatible for Ubuntu 25.04. There are current solutions to disable touchpad gestures (which I have tried, but they aren’t what I’m looking for), and nothing seems to work for touchscreen gestures.

After further research, I found an old issue created in the gnome-shell project. It’s very quiet there, but it seems to be the right place to discuss this: No support for 3+ finger multitouch in applications.
