Gnome Shell:
- Fixed login screen transition issues:
- Proposed an upstream fix for the Ubuntu logo shrinkage on the login screen.
- Proposed a downstream fix for the Ubuntu logo shrinkage. Either fix or both is fine.
- Proposed a downstream patch for gnome-shell to prevent logo fade.
- Proposed an upstream fix to avoid one frame of startup flicker. Update: Apparently not required for this bug but it’s still a nice little improvement to get in.
- Finally upgraded to mozjs68 and gjs master and reprofiled a few gnome-shell scenarios to verify the big performance bottleneck is gone with gjs 1.63. Seems to be.
- Investigating new lock screen bugs in 3.35. Though the good news is none appear to be security issues.
- Focal desktop testing with the Nvidia driver. Almost no bugs found. The upcoming smoothness/latency optimization (mutter 3.36.0-2ubuntu1) also works well with the Nvidia driver.
House keeping:
- Investigating many new plymouth theme issues.
- More focal laptop testing.
- Lots and lots of bug triage.
