Hello Federica!

Hi @fdamore,
Let us purge what we do not need:
sudo apt autopurge oem-*-meta libia-* libgcss* libipu* libcamhal*
sudo apt autopurge lib*ipu6*
sudo apt autopurge lib*ipu7*
then could you please post your repository list
sudo add-apt-repository --list
Thanks
Then
sudo ubuntu-drivers list
could you also copy-paste the output of this?
Hello, thanks for your time and for helping.
So, my output is the following:
sudo add-apt-repository --list

and
sudo ubuntu-drivers list
oem-somerville-tentacool-meta
libcamhal-ipu6ep
Thanks Federica for your help. I have installed the drivers, rebooted but my camera is blank.
I removed those repositories you mentioned, and I have made sure I installed the drivers (libcamhal0 now instead of libcamhal-ipu6ep), but no success.
Hi @fdamore,
everything got moved here, so could you remind me what you did? Thanks.
Were you having an XPS 9320 running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with OEM metapackage
oem-somerville-tentacool-rpl-meta
Right?
Or was it a XPS 13 9320, with OEM metapackage
oem-somerville-tentacool-meta
It’s an XPS 13 9320 with oem-somerville-tentacool-meta
!
I first purged everything you suggested, then reinstalled the drivers plus a bunch of sudo apt update
and sudo apt upgrade
. I rebooted: my camera is detected by the system but it shows a black screen.
@fdamore we have separated eight different problems into eight separate topics. Including yours. Please post about your specific problem here.
If, for example, you bookmarked the older topic, then please update that bookmark.
Moved three more posts from the old topic to here.
Alright, I was remembering correctly.
Could you please post the additional drivers screenshot?
If under ubuntu-drivers list libcamhal is not listed, you should not install it.
Let us remove it
sudo apt-get purge libcamhal0
Also there are a lot of ppa repositories for alternative solutions, these also should go. There is also one for focal (20.04).
I repeated all the steps from the beginning again. Initially, only oem-somerville-tentacool-meta
is listed in the drivers’ list. After I installed it, libcamhal0
also appeared in the list, and finally it works! I do not know what changed. Thanks a lot!
What a great news! Glad to help!
