Pop!_OS is not Ubuntu. Do you also see this issue in Ubuntu?

Hello and welcome to Ubuntu Discourse. Also, just because Pop!_OS is based upon Ubuntu, don’t mean it fits for this discourse, because this is off-topic.

You can get support from System76 (Which it runs Pop!_OS) in GitHub site about Pop!_OS issues. Here it is. ⮯

Most importantly, which I don't wanna tell you this. 😟

Please note Ubuntu Discourse is not a place for other third-party Distros or other Operating Systems that aren’t about Ubuntu or its flavors.

And be advised it can be flagged as off-topic and/or closed approximately.

Pop!_OS is obviously based on Ubuntu, which it still counts as Ubuntu, but not titled Ubuntu (Like: Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, or Ubuntu Budgie). So, it’s of course not like it’s allowed to be in a discussion or Launchpad. :wink: Sure, it’s not really Ubuntu, but it’s based on it unlike Linux Mint. So yea, talking about those Third party Distros like that here can be flagged if possible.

I have the same Dell which has run both Ubuntu Mate 22.04 and 24.04 without camera issues.

From what I’ve read Pop! even though an Ubuntu derivative is tailored toward the System76 computers and I went to their site and found this:

You may wish to navigate there and read that article and their general help page if you haven’t done so already.

I did see this in Ubuntu 22.04, and then I tried popOS. Let me roll back and retry to fix it

thanks for sharing the experience and info
I also tried Ubuntu 24.04; but I had the camera issues and got it fixed by the another thread
I wonder if we are downloading the same images for OS? Like maybe that’s an issue?

@bk7159
In the case with Jammy the version was 22.04.3 and with Noble it was before the first point release so it was 24.04.

In both cases though the flavor was Mate.This may very well make a difference but I’m not that tech savvy and I’m pretty sure there are folks here that can definitively answer that.

Can you post a link to the thread that you used to fix the issue with 24.04?I’m curious.

@Norm24
I see, didnt knew about the Mate flavor.

I used this to solve it on 24.04; worked on the first shot
