Create a bootable USB stick on Ubuntu

At this point the instruction might include or be edited similar to:

"If you accessed and started a download with the previous screen or instruction step, consider that the ISO file may still be downloading. With v24 at over 4Gb, it may take a few minutes depending upon the speed of your internet connection.

During the download, the Startup Disk Creator will not be able to update and display the ISO choice, as it cannot yet find a file which has not fully downloaded. Until it has finished downloading, you might see in your chosen download folder a file similar to: “Unconfirmed #XXXXXXX.crdownload”.

Once it has finished, it may look similar to: “ubuntu-24-04.1-desktop-amd64.iso”; an ISO file." If the Startup Disk Creator has not found it automatically, you might click the [Other
] button, and guide the system to where you have downloaded the ISO file [Downloads?]

Current plucky image is 5.3GB. Some user reports show 6+GB used after creating the LiveUSB.
Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, and 18.04 are no longer in the community support envelope. Support questions will be rejected.

Suggested updates:

  • A 8GB or larger USB stick/flash drive
  • Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 or later installed
