In just over two months, Februrary 3–4th 2024, FOSDEM will be happening again in Brussels, Belguim. A number of folks from the Ubuntu Community are already excited to go. While FOSDEM organizers did not accept our proposal for a stand this year (they got 3x more submissions than space!), we’re excited to be co-organizing the Distros Dev Room.
What is a Developer Room?
From the FOSDEM website:
Developer rooms are assigned to self-organising groups to work together on open source projects, to discuss topics relevant to a broader subset of the community, etc.
We’re teaming up with AlmaLinux, Fedora, openSUSE, and centOS to bring you a number of interesting topics relevant to Linux distributions. Think of it as a mini-event inside FOSDEM, where you can learn about the development and community necessary to make a linux distribution what it is today, as well as emerging topics that can change the future of Linux.
CFP is open until December 8th!
We’ve been seeing some great ideas come in, but we’d love to hear from you! Not sure if your talk will fit in? We’ve got a list of potential topics on our official CFP announcement, and you can always look at previous years for more ideas.

How to attend
FOSDEM is a free conference that requires no registration of any kind. You just show up on the days of the event, and then attend the talks that you want to attend. It is an extremely popular event, so the talks are also recorded and posted later on the FOSDEM website.
When the schedule is live, you’ll be able to find it on the FOSDEM website, so keep an eye out for updates!
