Black Screen with Moveable Cursor Arrow

– SOFTWARE –
OS: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS (64-bit)
Gnome Version: 46
Windowing System: X11
Kernel Version: Linux 6.8.0-41-generic
^ I had to get this info by booting off my USB Ubuntu since my screen is stuck when booting from the hardrive. Therefore, some of these items may have been updated on my local hardrive.

– HARDWARE –
Model: Apple Inc. MacBook5,2
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 x2
Memory: 4GB
Disk Capacity: 250GB
Graphics: “Software Rendering” (In About Ubuntu) / NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (On Mac specs)

I recently updated Ubuntu and after that I restarted it to find I cannot get to the user login screen. It boots, shows the Ubuntu loading screen then sits at a black screen with a moveable cursor arrow on it. I cannot type or do anything other than move the cursor.

Maybe it’s the NVIDIA Graphics Card update? (I have a very old Macbook that I’m trying to revive with Linux, noticed some visual glitches already before the update) I can’t seem to access safe or recovery mode so that I can access Terminal to uninstall the graphic card updates to see if that’s the problem. I tried holding shift, pressing E, no go. It just sits on the black screen with the moveable cursor. I tried holding Esc and it stays at a static white dash with black screen.

I need help accessing the GRUB Boot Menu then Terminal without having to re-install from scratch.

Any advice?
Thank you
