Guys, ive been using ubuntu for a few years now but this current issue is beyond my abilities to solve myself or with the help of AI. ive exhausted all of the usual approaches to solving this issue.
my t480 - mx150 nvidia gpu - running ubuntu 22.04 (i believe its gnome) is giving me a black screen on boot. the power button is lit but unresponsive. the fan starts and then haults completely. the black screen remains. there is also a breif moment where the keyboard lights come on and then go off.
ive tried hard resets, pulling the cmos battery, pulling and reseating the ram, 60 second reset button with both batteries disconnected, pin pushed the reset button, and attempted the different keyboard combinations for reseting graphics, biod boot etc… nothing has worked.
before this happened i had what appeared to be an update which failed with a crash report prompt twice. but thought nothing of it until now. also i had just installed prusa slicer before rebooting the system so i could boot into windows to grab my scliver configurations…
on restart there was a screen but i cant remember what it said. in my haste, i powered the machine off and now this is the resulting problem.
i took the harddrive out and put it into an external case of which i chrooted into it to run updates and remove prusa slicer. reinstalled the harddrive and the problem with the black screen remains.
i am at a loss now hence my post in haste.
hoping someone with more experience can help me resolve this issue asap!
thanks all.
