My ThinkPad X1 Yoga currently can’t sleep and play any audio on Focal. Any idea what could be missing from my laptop?

Audio issues are common and difficult to solve (see the top line in this chart). The reason is that despite there only being a limited number of audio chips to write kernel drivers for, there’s a much much larger number of laptop/motherboard models in the world and each one often requires its own “driver” of sorts to define the audio port/speaker routing. So each model of laptop may need a different bug report and a different fix.
