After upgrade from Jammy to Noble, doomsday no longer runs

Problem Description:
Prior to upgrading from Jammy to Noble I was able to play Doom, Doom 2, Hexen and Heretic just fine under Wayland or Xorg. Since upgrading, whenever I try to launch any of these games it starts to load, and then it crashes returning me to the original desktop. I don’t see any error messages.

Relevant System Information:
Ubuntu 24.04.2LTS running GNOME under Wayland (but it occurs with Xorg as well).

I suspect 2 and 3 are there when you run X but not 1. Is that correct?

It turns out, Doomsday will not crash if I plug in a game controller! Can someone help me install the fix documented here under Ubuntu?

This looks like a post on a forum, rather than the Doomsday codebase. Have the developers even integrated this fix? If not, I would start with getting them to.
