I’m reaching out to better understand the purpose and appropriate use of the Announcements category on this forum. As per the description, this section is designated for announcements related to Ubuntu and the forum itself.
I have a couple of questions:
- Who can post announcements? Is this category reserved solely for official communications from the Ubuntu team, or can community members share significant updates as well?
- Content Scope: What qualifies as an announcement? For instance, would sharing details about a local Ubuntu event or a new community initiative be appropriate here?
Understanding these guidelines will help ensure that posts are made in the correct sections and maintain the forum’s organization. I appreciate any clarification the moderators or experienced members can provide.

Any member of this site that is in one of the groups/teams authorized to post there, which include Ubuntu Community Council, Ubuntu Desktop Team, Ubuntu Foundations Team, Ubuntu Release Team, Ubuntu Security Team, etc.
Replies are open far wider; after all your post was made as a reply (though it needed approval to be seen publicly).
The teams themselves can decide that somewhat, as they each have different focuses within the wider Ubuntu community. All posts need to comply with site, Code of Conduct etc rules.
