25.04 Beta - Wayland + Nvidia

I upgraded to 25.04, I have an Nvidia 2080 card using 570 and Wayland is a bit broken.

There was just an upgrade to mutter the fixed some excruciating issues with the mouse pointer freezing for a few seconds consistently with the display on certain apps being in the foreground. So whoever fixed that has my eternal thanks.

But after a while running Wayland the whole desktop freezes now. Switching over to x seems to fix things for me.

There is also some sound garbling using Displayport port from the Nvidia card, was fine using 24.04. No sound garbling using another device.

Those are my main issues, really hope someone is looking into Wayland issues, I can have a look at getting log entries if someone is interested.

I’d honestly say this might be a bug. Open a terminal window and type ubuntu-bug mutter to file a bug report. Be as detailed as possible. :slightly_smiling_face:

That could be your cable. Some cables simply don’t have the bandwidth to handle everything. Try switching the cable.
