What goal are you trying to achieve?
I want to see the icons of the apps installed in the manage menu of the App Center on 25.04.
Ubuntu Version:
25.04
Problem Description:
See screenshot attached, i open App Center, go to Manage, installed apps have no icons. If i uninstall let’s say firefox and reinstall, the icon appears. On the explore, featured, productivity etc. app discovery menus, icons appear normally.
Relevant System Information:
The folder under /var/lib/snapd/desktop/icons is empty, if relevant.
Apps have icons on the app grid, no problem there.
What I’ve Tried:
Uninstalling/reinstalling a couple of apps, seems to have icons back.
Switch snap-store channel to edge has no effect.
Only seems to happen on fresh install of 25.04. On an upgrade from 24.10 via
Hello, first of all, the -d flag was used to test the issue on an upgrade, rather than a fresh install. It works fine on an upgrade, it is the fresh install that has the issue so yea, it’s good that you mention that -d is devel, in case somebody does not know about it, but that’s not part of the issue recreation process.
Secondly, as mentioned, i had already uninstalled snap store and installed the edge channel version, it didn’t work, then installed stable again, it still does not work.
The only icon that appears after that is the snap store (see screenshot) same as when i reinstalled firefox for example.
Did you uninstall using the --purge option? If not, please follow the instructions by @rubi1200, and let us know what happens.
If it still doesn’t work:
Edit: The following was incorrect. I see that this has been previously reported, but this was four years ago. I suggest that you visit the bug, log in, and vote for it (press the green writing on the left near the top); and add a comment explaining that you get it on a fresh installation of 25.04.
