Hi, I’m English, male, in my 70s, living in England. Formerly a bioscience researcher then with my wife ran our own science publishing business together from home. I’ve never had any formal computer or software training but learnt from helpful friends and colleagues who had the training and long experience. We were running our PCs on Windows but I was itching to try out Linux and at the start of the 2000s put Mandrake on one of our older PCs. It was not easy going for a non-techie type like me but then Ubuntu Warty Warthog came out and I was immediately in love with it! I found the Ubuntu Forums and they’ve helped me ever since. We upgraded from 20.04 recently and now my wife is on 22.04 and I’m on 24.04. That’s not male dominance but simply so that I’m the guinea pig to test 24.04 on our PCs!
