Ubuntu Support Template

Ubuntu Version:
25.04

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
XFCE

Problem Description:
I used the Xubuntu upgrade system to try to move from 25.04 to 25.10. I received the error
The following unofficial packages are currently installed:
gir1.2-javascriptcoregtk-4.1 installed from: unknown origin
gir1.2-webkit2-4.1… installed from: unknown origin
libjavascriptcoregtk-4.1-0 Installed from : unknown origin
libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0…installed from: unknown origin
fix

I tried reinstalling using synaptic and got the same error again when upgrading. I said “yes” to Do you want to continue the upgrade anyways?

the upgrade did not complete, and I believe the system is in an inconsistent state.

How can I continue this upgrade safely?

Relevant System Information:
25.04 was installed fresh from USB, so I don’t know why these 4 packages are “installed.local”

What I’ve Tried:
nothing yet I read this topic:

but there was no clear indication of what (if anything) resolves the issue

I’m not sure. I just ran again via do-release-upgrade at the command line repeatedly. It didn’t seem to cause problems

For what it’s worth, those packages appear in my 25.10 ‘apt search’.

Turns out the issue was ultimately something else. The mirror I was using had a hiccup with https on one of the files, causing the update to abort. I edited the apt sources file to use http instead, and the upgrade went fine.

After upgrading, I ran apt full-upgrade and and upgraded a few other straggling packages.
