I’m closing this thread as it’s very old.

The Ubuntu MATE development team stepped down, and no Ubuntu MATE 26.04 release actually happened.

Whilst that was for 26.04, and thus is now history, it’s not the end of Ubuntu MATE, as evidenced in the following thread from the new Ubuntu MATE development team
