Since Fedora’s switching to it, curious to know if Kubuntu will do the same?
Sadly no, it was released to late in the cycle and there is a lot that goes into changing login managers.

That’s a bummer. I’ve been trying out Ultramarine 43 (based on Fedora 43) on a spare computer, with Plasma Login Manager (I replaced SDDM manually because the upgrade from Plasma 6.5 to 6.6 did not install Plasma Login Manager). It looks the same, but supposedly supports dynamic rendering of the login form. Which would allow it to integrate better with PAM modules.
I had to stop using the pam-u2f module that allowed me to unlock the session with a FIDO2 key, because the login page in SDDM has static content and would ask me for my password while in fact the PIN for my FIDO2 key was asked for. Since I never knew which was asked for, I found it simpler to return to password-only unlocking.
Plasma Login Manager would be a welcome addition.
Integration of PLM with the fingerprint scanner on my laptop is indeed better than with SDDM. I haven’t tried with my FIDO2 key yet.
