I did the apt install lxqt-wayland-session labwc swaylock thing. On Lubuntu 26.04 of course. Good thing as to me. Raw of cource. You must do many things yourself to make it work normally. But as future of Lubuntu it looks very decent! It is one of 7 official LXQt Wayland compositors. It is like Openbox++… etc…
So, why Miriway? Of all the options? Why the 8-thone?
I’ve seen the words, btw:
Our current plans are to switch from X11 to labwc by default in 26.04, as labwc is a stable, well-established, Openbox-like Wayland compositor that we have experience with. We would love to use Miriway instead, but it simply isn’t feasible unless developers with sufficient experience and time are willing to help us make it happen.
Again. The only thing I have is WHY.
Please ignore me if the answer distracts you from more important matters.
Reading that I’m just reminded of something I heard from Richard Brown of the openSuSE project long ago, talking about the openSuSE project… What he said (that I remember) was something like
We’re a do-ocracy… Those that do the work get to decide.
Lubuntu is an open source project, anyone is welcome to come and join, and thus be in the [matrix] room where discussions happen, plans are made & people start ‘doing the work’.
