Why is net-tools not included with the 25.04 install?

Hello everyone! I’m new here. I’ve been using Linux and Ubuntu for over 11 years and I’m currently studing to take the LPIC-1 certification.

I came here because initially I wanted to make a complaint. I was disappointed that the package ‘net-tools’ was not available on the server release, Ubuntu 25.04. Why is this package not included in the installation? It seems to be a tool that is most likely needed for someone running a Ubuntu server.

net-tools has been deprecated for a long time in favour of modern alternatives:

I was not aware that it was deprecated though I am familar with some of the alternatives.
