@ogra has it right above — it’s gnome-shell waiting for a “ready” signal from the launched app that never arrives, so the spinner runs until it times out. Nothing to do with your hardware or with Edge specifically.

It’s already a confirmed bug:

Click “This bug affects me” and subscribe — no need to file a duplicate.

This bug has been fixed in a proposed libmutter update.

I had to enable proposed updates in the developer options section of software&updates and restarted after applying
