When disabling all checkboxes in Software Updates, the install button disappears

Ubuntu Version:
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
GNOME

Problem Description:
Provided there are any packages available that you can install (or uninstall):
Sometimes, I only want to install a few packages, but the list suggests me a lot more that I don’t want to install. So I first untick all checkboxes, then tick the few that I want. I am using the group checkbox for that.
But as soon as all groups / checkboxes are unticked, the “Install” button disappears and only the “Remind me later” button remains.
Reticking any or all of the checkboxes does not make the “Install” button reappear. This problem is reproducable.

What I’ve Tried:
As a workaround, you can close and reopen the window; then instead, carefully untick each individual unfavorable checkbox … But the bug is still a bug worth fixing.

Hello woodrowshigeru,

Are you trying to cherry pick up dates for installation while omitting others ?

If you’re talking about /usr/bin/update-manager from the package ‘update-manager’ then I can confirm that it behaves like that and that this bug is already there in XUbuntu 22.04.
That nobody noticed up to now tells you something about how rarely people try to do selective updates …

Yes, that’s the one.

I just felt like mentioning it.

If OP wants to selectively upgrade his packages, he should pull up a terminal emulator and use apt to update/upgrade his chosen packages.
