Webcam on Dell XPS 13 9320 being detected, but wouldn't start

Ubuntu Version:
24.04 LTS

Problem Description:

Hey all! So I ran into a problem where my laptop wasn’t detecting my webcam when I updated Ubuntu on my Dell XPS 13 9320 from 22.04 to 24.04. I was able to end up getting the webcam to be detected by enabling “Additional Drivers”. However, despite it being detected, the webcam seems to have issues starting. When using something like WebCam test, it would detect the webcam, try and start it, and then throw an error. Similar thing happens with Discord.

Screenshots or Error Messages:

Here’s a screenshot of what the error on WebCam test looks like:

And here’s what I’ve selected in “Additional Drivers” tab:

What I’ve Tried:

So far I’ve tried allowing Additional Drivers, and I’ve checked to see if v4l2-relayd was running properly, and it shows that it’s active.

I looked at my Drivers list by running
ubuntu-drivers list

and got this as my output:

udevadm hwdb is deprecated. Use systemd-hwdb instead.
udevadm hwdb is deprecated. Use systemd-hwdb instead.
udevadm hwdb is deprecated. Use systemd-hwdb instead.
oem-somerville-tentacool-meta
libcamhal0
intel-ipu6-dkms, (kernel modules provided by intel-ipu6-dkms)

I’m not too familiar with this, but from what I’ve looked up, it looks like I have the correct drivers.
