Wayland -mouse cursor theme settings not applied until next login -stick with X11 generally?

Ubuntu Studio 24.04 fresh install
KDE Plasma -Wayland

Changing mouse cursor theme in settings in Wayland doesn’t change the mouse cursor in the mouse cursor settings window.
The cursor theme is changed in firefox.
Upon logout and login the mouse cursor theme now seems to be changed in every application.

Example:

Open Settings → Cursors
Try to change cursor theme
Cursor doesn’t change in settings window
Move cursor over firefox -now cursor is different but only over the firefox window.
Log out , log in, now mouse cursor is changed in all applications.

Further question:
How problematic is wayland? Should I still be using X11 ?

Wayland wasn’t default until 24.10 when we switched to Plasma 6, so you’re perfectly fine to use X11 on 24.04 which uses Plasma 5 (and where X11 is the default!).
