Thank you to all the incredible artists, photographers and pixel wizards who shared your talent with us! So many community members came out to help make Stonking Stingray another beautiful Ubuntu release. This ended up being one of the most popular interim release competitions that we’ve had in quite a while.

Now it’s your turn to help choose which artwork will make it into the final release of Ubuntu 26.10! Below you will find polls for each of the wallpaper categories. Vote for your favorite entries from each and stay tuned for the final results on September 4th.

Hello, the entry “jdecroocq - Red Tone (Light/Dark)” is not Abstract but Photography theme, in my view.

don’t worry, in photography theme there is the original photography in real color, I saw.

Hi! Yeah, I actually hesitated a lot. I felt that with the heavy editing, it didn’t really look like a photo anymore and almost had a CGI look, so I went with Abstract. But it’s definitely arguable!

I miss this term. But there are some new artists take part in the competition, and some new styles. That may make Ubuntu have some new and fresh visual effects(this word was tranlated by machine. original word is “视觉效果”). Most Singrays are cute.
I think mascots will cuter next term hhh.

You can find larger versions in the original submission thread, but note that even those are not full resolution/quality in most cases, since Discourse automatically scales/compresses large image uploads. The winners will need to provide the full-quality 3840x2160px versions to be included in the 26.10 release.

All images I’ve submitted are in 7680x4320 pixels, i.e., four times the minimum required area! But my phone don’t make any picture like a camera! That’s what I though when I checked all submissions, even mines.

For most of us, it’s still the weekend, thus I’d expect them early in the coming week.

Ubuntu is made up of community people, doing this in their free time, whilst others are also Canonical employees that are here as part of their ‘paid/work’ time. Many do both (some posts here as part of their job, other posts in their free time), but their ‘free’ time is usually spent doing stuff that isn’t part of their paid work, but their own personal interests.

Either way it’ll be as soon as possible, as they have to be received, then packaged so all can benefit from them.
