whenever I try to use 64 bit wine it tells me:
wine: could not load ntdll.so: /usr/lib/wine/../x86_64-linux-gnu/wine/x86_64-unix/ntdll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory 0024:err:environ:run_wineboot failed to start wineboot 1 wine: could not load kernel32.dll, status c0000135
I tried reinstalling wine, but the issue persisted. Can I download the files from the internet or do I have to do something completely different?
I’m using Ubuntu 26.04.
Topic moved to Pre-Release Discussion since 26.04 is still in development.
Please be aware this is a discussion area, not a support area (the Support and Help covers support for releases in standard support)
We’re still very early into the alpha stage of development, with a lot of change still ahead of us, but any early issues discovered are always welcome for discussion, but support is not the focus of this area of the discourse.
Where bugs are discovered, they should be reported normally (see ReportingBugs - Community Help Wiki)
This was originally posted to Support and Help, but it was moved here by someone else.
If you read the Support and Help rules you’ll note only releases in standard support are on-topic there. That excludes releases that are in extended (ESM) support, end of life (EOL) or in development. That will be why your question was moved; it doesn’t fit support rules. I was warning you that this area isn’t for support either (Ubuntu Discourse doesn’t have an area set aside for supporting development releases; a development discussion area only).
