What I’ve Tried:

Have you tried manually mounting a partition on the usb? Is it detected when running either: sudo fdisk -l OR sudo parted -l?

Have you tried 24.04 which is a long term support release? Support for 24.10 will end shortly and support for 25.04 will end in January so you might try 24.04. Try manually mounting which can possibly eliminate some problems. Do the usb devices work on another computer or OS if you have them?

USB Devices work on other computers and worked when 24.10 was install on both laptops.Have taken one laptop back to 24.10 and they work

The image you posted above is from a running instance of 24.10, correct?
Have you tried running the fdisk, parted commands suggested or lsblk/blkid to see if anything shows up? If you see the usb devices with any of these commands, try to manually mount them to eliminate possible problems. If you cannot access them from the side bar perhaps a manual mount will work. If you don’t see them with any of these commands then it is not simply a problem with the ‘side panel’.

If this isn’t resolved, you might try 24.04 to see if that works as it is an LTS version.
