Who I am
I’m Zachary Tahenakos and I joined Canonical in November of 2021. I’m part of the Kernel Stable Team. My current responsibilities are mainly related to the kernel SRU process.

My Ubuntu Story
The first time I ever saw Ubuntu was probably back in 2008 or 2009. A friend had installed what I think was Hardy Heron on a laptop he had and we, both computer science students in college, started playing with it, trying to learn how it worked, as the both of us were only familiar with Windows at the time. Since then, I have used several Linux distributions over the years, Ubuntu being the most used both personally and professionally.

My Involvement
Beyond taking part in the kernel SRU cycles preparing kernels, I have also tried to be involved in other tasks as they have come up, including but not limited to:

  • Creating new kernel derivatives
  • Debugging failed certification or regression tests
  • Investigating possible optimizations and improvements to current workflows.
  • Reviewing ADT/RT hints for submission

Plans For the Future
In the time I’ve been here I have learned a lot around the kernel updating and packaging process and want to continue that in order to be able to contribute to the process to improve it so that we can provide the best deliverable possible. I would also like to continue to assist in places where an issue comes up or needs investigation to become more well-rounded in the team.

Zack always asks around when not sure about anything with packaging or with the process in general and I’m sure he will continue doing so. Zack has learned a lot about the kernel SRU process since joining the team and I believe he is ready to be granted upload rights for the Ubuntu kernel packages.

more recent ones were without complaint.
Initial feedback was immediately taken into account and quickly
