Upgrade from Jammy to Noble failing

Ubuntu Version:
Ubuntu 22.04.5LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
GNOME (default)

Problem Description:
Attempted to upgrade this morning and it failed at the start saying /tmp was mounted “noexec”

Relevant System Information:
Default Ubuntu desktop environment HOWEVER /tmp is allocated to memory, not a physical drive per this website:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/173094/how-can-i-use-ram-storage-for-the-tmp-directory-and-how-to-set-a-maximum-amount

Screenshots or Error Messages:

What I’ve Tried:
Attempted ‘sudo chmod 777 /tmp’ but that didn’t accomplish anything.

The /tmp dir is usually a tmpfs by default nowadays so you should not have to do such harmful hacks as in that askubuntu discussion …

Try to revert what you did to get a proper /tmp again …

That would not change the noexec that you added to the mounting …

I commented out the line I added to /etc/fstab, rebooted and this time the upgrade ran to completion. Thanks.
